Shizuoka Crown Musk Melon (Japan)
Melon is most celebrated for its sweetness with a hint of musk and juiciness. A melon is ranked according to its shape, sugary level, scent, colour, etc. Farmers take great care of the fruits, using a technique called 'Tama-Fuki', which is similar to doing a massage on the surface of the fruit, to enhance the melon's sweetness. The T-shaped stem also indicates the melon was grown as the only fruit of the tree, farmers would allow three fruits to grow on a tree in the beginning, then leaving only the strongest one behind to have all the nutrients concentrating on it.
