Choi sum is a leafy vegetable commonly used in Chinese cuisine. Choi Sum in Cantonese means "" the heart of the vegetable"". Choi Sum taste slightly bitter and earthy with a hint of mustard flavor. Other than its stems and leaves; the petit flowers on top can be eaten also! Choi Sum gives a rich and strong taste after cook, and its well suited for stir-fry dishes. Choi Sum is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, dietary fibre, calcium and iron.
Stir fry with meat slices (optional), garlic and ginger for a crispy texture. Steaming the vegetable will give a sweeter taste and a tender texture.
